BACKGROUND Preoperative imaging is widely used and extremely helpful in hepatobiliary surgery. However, transfer of preoperative data to a intraoperative situation is very difficult. Surgeons need intraoperative anatomical information using imaging data for safe and precise operation in the field of hepatobiliary surgery. We have developed a new system for(More)
BACKGROUND Inactivation of the p53 tumor suppressor gene (also known as TP53) through a point mutation and/or loss of heterozygosity is one of the most common genetic changes found in various types of human tumors. PURPOSE Our purpose was to investigate the relationship between the presence of p53 gene mutations and survival of patients with(More)
In malignant hepatic neoplasm, anatomic resection could improve survival and limit complications from hepatectomy. Our purpose was to develop an intraoperative method for identifying segment and subsegment of the liver with high-sensitivity near-infrared fluorescence imaging. The subjects were 35 patients with hepatic malignant liver disease who received(More)
A 58-year-old woman with a mesothelial cyst of the diaphragm showed high level of serum Tissue Polypeptide Antigen (TPA) and cyst fluid TPA. Mesothelial cells of the cyst may excrete TPA and TPA was accumulated in the cysts. The measurement of tumor marker such as TPA of the serum or of the content of the cyst is useful in observation of the clinical course.
AIM Hepatocyte transplantation is a potential alternative to whole organ liver transplantation. To realize this procedure, a hepatocyte bank system capable of supplying large numbers of hepatocytes must be established. We previously reported an easy method for cryopreserving hepatocytes using a microencapsulation technique. Here, we investigated how(More)
We report on three resected cases of intrapulmonary plasma cell granuloma. All of them were asymptomatic. One of them showed bilateral multiple lesions and in this case bilateral partial resections of lung in one stage were performed. Under light and electron microscopy the lesions were composed of plasma cells and other kinds of inflammatory cell. The(More)
We recently encountered a case of intrabronchial neurilemmoma. The patient was a 15-year-old boy who had a wheeze. After observation with a bronchofiberscope, a wedge resection of the left main bronchus was performed. No postoperative complications nor recurrence was seen. To date, five cases of intrabronchial neurilemmoma have been reported in the Japanese(More)
Aptamer-drug conjugates (ApDCs) have the potential to improve the therapeutic index of traditional chemotherapeutic agents due to their ability to deliver cytotoxic drugs specifically to cancer cells while sparing normal cells. This study reports on the conjugation of cytotoxic drugs to an aptamer previously described by our group, the pancreatic cancer RNA(More)
