In this paper we are interested in concentration inequalities for Z = sup{Sn(s) :s ∈ S}. Now let us recall the main results in this direction. Starting from concentration inequalities for product measures, Talagrand (1996) obtained Bennett type upper bounds on the Laplace transform of Z via concentration inequalities for product measures. More precisely he… (More)

We have studied the Cabibbo-suppressed decay mode D0 → K+K−π0 using a Dalitz plot technique and find the strong phase difference δD ≡ δK∗−K+ − δK∗+K− = 332◦ ± 8◦ ± 11◦ and relative amplitude rD ≡ aK∗−K+ / aK∗+K− = 0.52 ± 0.05 ± 0.04. This measurement indicates significant destructive interference between D0 → K+(K−π0)K∗− and D0 → K−(K+π0)K∗+ in the Dalitz… (More)

Using data collected with the CLEO detector operating at the CESR e+e− collider at √ s = 3.974.26GeV, we investigate 15 charmonium decay modes of the ψ(4040), ψ(4160), and Y (4260) resonances. We confirm, at 11σ significance, the BaBar Y (4260)→ π+π−J/ψ discovery, make the first observation of Y (4260) → π0π0J/ψ (5.1σ), and find the first evidence for Y… (More)

We have studied the leptonic decay D+ s → τ ντ , via the decay channel τ + → eνeν̄τ , using a sample of tagged D+ s decays collected near the D ∗± s D ∓ s peak production energy in e +e− collisions with the CLEO-c detector. We obtain B(D+ s → τ ντ ) = (5.30± 0.47± 0.22)% and determine the decay constant fDs = (252.5±11.1±5.2) MeV, where the first… (More)

OBJECTIVE
Many children with a congenital heart defect undergo surgical correction requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. One-sixth of these patients take an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor for heart failure treatment. The effect of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibition on the fibrinolytic and inflammatory response in children undergoing… (More)

Using 281 pb−1 of e+e− collisions recorded at the ψ(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector at CESR, we determine absolute hadronic branching fractions of charged and neutral D mesons using a double tag technique. Among measurements for three D0 and six D+ modes, we obtain reference branching fractions B(D0 → K−π+) = (3.891 ± 0.035 ± 0.059 ± 0.035)% and… (More)

We extract a relatively precise value for the decay constant of the D+ meson by measuring B(D+ → μνμ) = (4.45± 0.67 −0.36)× 10−4 using 280 pb−1 of data taken on the ψ(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector. We find fD+ = (223±16+7 −9) MeV . We also set a 90% confidence upper limit on B(D+ → e+ν) < 2.4× 10−5. ∗Submitted to the XXII International Symposium… (More)

Let f : A → B be a covering map. We say A has e filtered ends with respect to f (or B) if for some filtration {Kn} of B by compact subsets, A − f(Kn) “eventually” has e components. The main theorem states that if Y is a (suitable) free H-space, if K < H has infinite index, and if Y has a positive finite number of filtered ends with respect to H\Y , then Y… (More)
