Identification and Pathogenicity of Intracellular Francisella Bacterium in Three-line Grunt Parapristipoma trilineatum
- T. Kamaishi, Y. Fukuda, N. Oseko
- Biology, Medicine
- 15 June 2005
It is demonstrated that the intracellular bacterium is pathogenic and is identified to the genus Francisella, the first report of pathogenic Francisella from marine fish.
Taxonomical study into two new species of Philometra (Nematoda: Philometridae) previously identified as Philometra lateolabracis (Yamaguti, 1935).
- K. Quiazon, T. Yoshinaga, K. Ogawa
- BiologyFolia Parasitologica
- 1 March 2008
Molecular comparison of ITS2 rDNA between P. lateolabracis and P. madai supported the morphological conclusion that the two nematodes obtained from different fish species should be assigned to different species.
Isolation and in vitro Cultivation of an Unidentified Ciliate Causing Scuticociliatosis in Japanese Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)
- T. Yoshinaga, J. Nakazoe
- Medicine
- 15 September 1993
The ciliate causing scuticociliatosis in Japanese flounder was isolated, and axenic cultures were established and optimum growth was obtained at dilution of 1 : 2 (osmolarity : 438 mOsm) at 22.5-27.5°C.

Identification of Larval Anisakis spp. (Nematoda: Anisakidae) in Alaska Pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) in Northern Japan Using Morphological and Molecular Markers
- K. Quiazon, T. Yoshinaga, M. Santos, K. Ogawa
- BiologyJournal of Parasitology
- 6 November 2009
Abstract The Alaska pollock, Theragra chalcogramma (Pallas), is an important raw source for surimi and other food products in Japan. However, Alaska pollock caught in the Atlantic and Mediterranean…
Philometra sawara sp. n. and a redescription of Philometra sciaenae Yamaguti, 1941 and Philometra nemipteri Luo, 2001 (Nematoda: Philometridae): a morphological and molecular approach.
- K. Quiazon, T. Yoshinaga, K. Ogawa
- BiologyFolia Parasitologica
- 1 December 2008
The conclusion that the three Philometra species in the current study are independent is supported by a molecular comparison of the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) region of the ribosomal DNA between P. sawara, P. nemipteri, and P. sciaenae.
DNA Probes for Detection of Marteilioides chungmuensis from the Ovary of Pacific Oyster Crassostrea gigas
- N. Itoh, T. Oda, T. Yoshinaga, K. Ogawa
- Biology
- 15 December 2003
Compared to traditional histological techniques and gross observation, the PCR diagnosis showed a far greater sensitivity, and can be used for the elucidation of the parasite's life cycle and the identification of possible intermediate hosts.

Occurrence of Perkinsus species (Protozoa, Apicomplexa) from Manila clam Tapes philippinarum in Japan.
- Y. Maeno, T. Yoshinaga, K. Nakajima
- Biology
- 15 September 1999
Results indicated that these parasites in Manila clam were species belonging to the genus Perkinsus, however, they differed from previously described species in the morphology of trophozoites and prezoosporangia.
