Therapeutic suppression of translation initiation factor eIF4E expression reduces tumor growth without toxicity.
Development of eIF4E-specific antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) designed to have the necessary tissue stability and nuclease resistance required for systemic anticancer therapy are reported, providing the first in vivo evidence that cancers may be more susceptible to eif4E inhibition than normal tissues. Inhibiting systemic autophagy during interleukin 2 immunotherapy promotes long-term tumor regression.
The combination of IL-2 with chloroquine increased long-term survival, decreased toxicity associated with vascular leakage, and enhanced immune cell proliferation and infiltration in the liver and spleen and provides a novel clinical strategy to enhance the efficacy of HDIL-2 immunotherapy for patients with cancer. TGF-β-induced miR-21 negatively regulates the antiproliferative activity but has no effect on EMT of TGF-β in HaCaT cells.

Inhibition of the p38 kinase suppresses the proliferation of human ER-negative breast cancer cells.
