Metabolic products of microorganisms. 263. Nikkomycins SZ, SX, SoZ and SoX, new intermediates associated to the nikkomycin biosynthesis of Streptomyces tendae.
New intermediates associated with nikkomycin biosynthesis were isolated and characterized from the culture broth of Streptomyces tendae Tü 901/S 2566, and are analogues to octosyl acids, shunt metabolites of polyoxin biosynthesis.

A new juglomycin-type antibiotic was identified by a HPLC-diode array screening technique in the culture filtrate of Streptomyces tendae Tü 901/8c by an additional methyl group in position 3 of the naphthoquinone ring system.

A metabolite, which induced aerial mycelium formation in the bld mutant Tü 901/S 2566-EM 1, was identified by using a HPLC UV/Vis absorbance spectral library and confirmed to be identical with the macrolide antibiotic borrelidin.
