Identification and characterization of two novel classes of small RNAs in the mouse germline: retrotransposon-derived siRNAs in oocytes and germline small RNAs in testes.
The results suggest that retrotransposons are suppressed through the RNAi pathway in mouse oocytes, and a conserved novel small RNA pathway may be present in diverse animals.

The results strongly suggest that fludioxonil acts as a fungicide, in part, through activation of the MAPK cascade in fungal pathogens.
Peroxisomal Metabolic Function Is Required for Appressorium-Mediated Plant Infection by Colletotrichum lagenarium
It is reported that ClaPEX 6, an ortholog of PEX6, is required for the fungus Colletotrichum lagenarium to infect host plants, and functional analysis revealed that import of PTS1-containing proteins is impaired in clapex6 mutants generated by targeted gene disruption.

This is the first report of betanodavirus cDNA clones from which infectious genomic RNAs can be transcribed and the complete nucleotide sequences of these functional cDNAs were determined.

It is proposed that the C. lagenarium PKS1 gene encodes a polyketide synthase involved in melanin biosynthesis, particularly that encoded by wA in Aspergillus nidulans, involved in conidial pigmentation.
