New diarylheptanoids from the rhizomes of Dioscorea spongiosa and their antiosteoporotic activity.
The isolated compounds, except for diospongin A, exerted potent inhibitory activities on bone resorption induced by parathyroid hormone in a bone organ culture system.
Metabolism of 2,4-dinitrotoluene and 2,6-dinitrotoluene, and their dinitrobenzyl alcohols and dinitrobenzaldehydes by Wistar and Sprague-Dawley rat liver microsomal and cytosol fractions.

It was concluded that the dinitrobenzaldehydes (2,4-DNBAl and 2,6-D NBAl) were intermediates in the oxidations of dinitRObenzyl alchols and d initrobenzoic acids of male Wistar and male Sprague-Dawley (S.D.) rat livers.

In spite of the inhibitory effect on calcification, zinc prevented a decrease in bone matrix formation caused by cadmium but not that by copper, which would have resulted in decreased mineralization of bone, with or without suppression of matrix formation.

Cd by itself stimulated PGE2 production by two successive steps that Cd increased cPLA2 activity and then COX-2 induction, which suggests that the mechanism of Cd-induced P GE2 production is different from that of IL-1 alpha, which may require an activation of cPLA1.
Purification of enzymatically inactive peptidylarginine deiminase type 6 from mouse ovary that reveals hexameric structure different from other dimeric isoforms
Results indicate that PAD6 can constitute a hexameric structure and this unique structure and loss in enzymatic activity is strongly suggested to favor the formation of egg cytoplasmic sheets as the architectural protein.
