Increasing the efficiency of precise genome editing with CRISPR-Cas9 by inhibition of nonhomologous end joining
This work targeted DNA ligase IV, a key enzyme in the NHEJ pathway, using the inhibitor Scr7, and increased the efficiency of HDR-mediated genome editing, using Cas9 in mammalian cell lines and in mice for all four genes examined.
The Selaginella Genome Identifies Genetic Changes Associated with the Evolution of Vascular Plants
The genome sequence of the lycophyte Selaginella moellendorffii (Selaginella), the first nonseed vascular plant genome reported, is reported, finding that the transition from a gametophytes- to a sporophyte-dominated life cycle required far fewer new genes than the Transition from a non Seed vascular to a flowering plant.
ALS-linked mutant SOD1 induces ER stress- and ASK1-dependent motor neuron death by targeting Derlin-1.
It is demonstrated that ER stress-induced ASK1 activation, which is triggered by the specific interaction of Derlin-1 with SOD1(mut), is crucial for disease progression of familial ALS.
Substrate Preference in a Strain of Megasphaera elsdenii, a Ruminal Bacterium, and Its Implications in Propionate Production and Growth Competition
The NIAH 1102 strain of Megasphaera elsdenii utilized lactate in preference to glucose when the two substrates were present, and it was unlikely that propionate was produced from glucose, which was explicable by the fact that lactate racemase activity dropped rapidly with the exhaustion of lactate and cells actively fermenting glucose did not possess this enzyme.
GPR107, a G-protein-coupled Receptor Essential for Intoxication by Pseudomonas aeruginosa Exotoxin A, Localizes to the Golgi and Is Cleaved by Furin*♦
A genome-wide genetic screen in human KBM7 cells was performed to uncover host factors used by PE, several of which were confirmed by CRISPR/Cas9-gene editing in a different cell type, including GPR107, an orphan G-protein-coupled receptor.
The life-cycle of the box-tree pyralid, Glyphodes perspectalis (Walker) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae). II. Developmental characteristics of larvae.
The Life Cycle of the Box-Tree Pyralid, Glyphodes perspectalis (WALKER)(Lepidoptera : Pyralidae) : III. Photoperiodic Induction of Larval Diapause
This work aims to provide real-time information about the response of the immune system to E.coli-related infections.
