Juvenile hormone and colony conditions differentially influence cytochrome P450 gene expression in the termite Reticulitermes flavipes*
This work investigated the diversity of family 4 cytochrome P450 (CYP4) genes in Reticulitermes flavipes workers, with the specific goal of identifying P450s potentially involved in regulating caste differentiation, and identified seven novel CYP4 genes.
Regulation of polyphenic caste differentiation in the termite Reticulitermes flavipes by interaction of intrinsic and extrinsic factors
The present study provides the first mechanistic evidence linking an intrinsic caste regulatory factor (hexamerin proteins) to an upstream extrinsic factor (environment) and a downstream response (caste differentiation) consistent with the hypothesis that the hexamerins serve as an environmentally and nutritionally responsive switching mechanism that regulates termite caste polyphenism.

The longhorned beetle genus Elytroleptus Dugés (Cerambycidae: CerambyCinae: Trachyderini) is revised to include fifteen species and a phylogenetic analysis of ElytRoleptus is performed, suggesting it is monophyletic and supported by four unambiguous synapomorphies.
