Additional instances of human parasitism by the brown dog tick (Acari: Ixodidae).
Nine cases of humans parasitized by the brown dog tick suggest the role of R. sanguineus in the transmission of the etiologic agent of canine ehrlichiosis and other pathogenic organisms to humans may be underestimated and warrants investigation.
New Missouri County Records and Review of the Distribution and Disease Vector Potential of Ornithodoros Kelleyi (Arachnida: Ixodida: Argasidae) and Cimex Adjunctus (Insecta: Hemiptera: Cimicidae)
Abstract. The bat tick Ornithodoros kelleyi Cooley and Kohls (Arachnida: Ixodida: Argasidae) and eastern bat bug Cimex adjunctus Barber (Insecta: Hemiptera: Cimicidae) were collected from houses in
Light-Dependent and -Independent Toxicity of Erythrosin B to Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus Say
The primary lethality of erythrosin B, coupled with its rapid breakdown in the environment and its relative nontoxicity to mammals, indicated much potential for this compound in practical applications where environmental conditions would not favor the use of other methods.
Synergistic Effect of Fluorescein on Rose Bengal-Induced, Light-Dependent Toxicity
It is demonstrated that it is possible to enhance the photodynamic activity of rose bengal by using another dye to expand the usable range of light wavelengths.
Light-Dependent Latent Toxicity of Rose Bengal to Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus
Exposure of larval Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus Say to 1–30 ppm aqueous solutions of the xanthene dye rose bengal in the presence of visible light caused significant acute mortality and the latent mortality increased the total toxicity of rose bENGal by ca.
Facultative myiasis by Megaselia sp. (Diptera: Phoridae) in Texas: a case report.
A youth in Texas experienced a "crawling sensation deep in [his] throat" which caused him to cough, expelling a living Megaselia sp.
Human envenomization by Plectreurys tristis Simon (Araneae: Plectreuridae): a case report.
A patient was bitten on the calf of the leg and initially experienced pain, edema, and slight pallor at the bite site, and numbness persisted for approximately 1 h in the affected leg.
Acute Light-dependent Toxicity of Free-acid Formulations of Xanthene Dyes to Larval Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus Say (Diptera: Culicidae)
Free-acid and ionized formulations of the xanthene dyes erythrosin B, fluorescein, octabromofluorescein, phloxin R and rose bengal were tested to determine their light-dependent toxicity to
Additional Instances of Human Parasitism by the Brown Dog Tick, Rhipicephalus sanguineus
Nine cases of humans parasitized by the brown dog tick, Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Latreille), suggest that the role of R. sanguinus in the transmission of canine ehrlichiosis to humans may be underestimated and warrants investigation.
Sex Pheromones of the Male and Female Pecan Weevil, Curculio caryae : Behavioral and Chemical Studies
Male and female pecan weevils, Curculio caryae (Horn), were shown to be attractive to the respective opposite sex in a newly developed laboratory bioassay. Extracts of males attracted females and
