Although great variability was found in both the amount of cortisol secreted and the time spent in secretory activity/hr, the secretory rate was quite constant at approximately .05 mg/min.
A PCR-based sex-determination assay in cattle based on the bovine amelogenin locus.
A method for determining the sex of bovine embryos has been established that is rapid, does not require prior purification of DNA and contains an internal control which detects PCR failure.
Disrupted 24-hour patterns of cortisol secretion in psychotic depression.
- E. Sachar, L. Hellman, H. Roffwarg, F. Halpern, D. Fukushima, T. Gallagher
- Medicine, BiologyArchives of general psychiatry
The data suggest an abnormal disinhibition during depressive illness of the neuroendocrine centers regulating adrenocorticotrophic hormone release, which may be involved in the hypersecretion of cortisol in certain depressed patients.
ACTH and cortisol secretory patterns in man.
- T. Gallagher, K. Yoshida, H. Roffwarg, D. Fukushima, E. Weitzman, L. Hellman
- Medicine, BiologyThe Journal of clinical endocrinology and…
- 1 June 1973
It was concluded that any sampling period longer than 5 min gives an erroneous depiction of events and this was exemplified in the case of ACTH secretion.
MANIFESTATIONS OF HYPOTHALAMIC OBESITY IN MAN: A COMPREHENSIVE INVESTIGATION OF EIGHT PATIENTS AND A EEVIEW OF THE LITERATURE
Eight patients are presented in whom obesity developed in association with documented hypothalamic lesions. These lesions included trauma, inflammatory disease, an aneurysm of the internal carotid…
Cortisol is secreted episodically by normal man.
It was shown that in the early morning hours during sleep cortisol was secreted in episodic bursts which were separated by intervals during which there was no cortisol sec...
Dehydroisoandrosterone is secreted episodically and synchronously with cortisol by normal man.
- R. Rosenfeld, L. Hellman, H. Roffwarg, E. Weitzman, D. Fukushima, T. Gallagher
- MedicineThe Journal of clinical endocrinology and…
- 1 July 1971
In 4 studies in a normal man it was demonstrated that dehydroisoandrosterone (DHA) was secreted episodically and synchronously with cortisol, and a high degree of biological activity can be implied for DHA.
Characterization of auxin-induced ARRO-1 expression in the primary root of Malus domestica.
Constitutive expression in the primary root of apple seedlings suggests that ARRO-1's role may be linked to the regulation of natural auxin levels within plant tissues, and orthologues of ARro-1 have been identified in Arabidopsis thaliana by means of DNA database analysis which will enable the further molecular characterization of this class of 2-ODD.
The effect of pyramiding two potato cyst nematode resistance loci to Globodera pallida Pa2/3 in potato
- E. Dalton, D. Griffin, T. Gallagher, N. Vetten, D. Milbourne
- BiologyMolecular Breeding
- 22 February 2013
Results show that MAS-based pyramiding of these QTLs is an effective strategy for breeding cultivars exhibiting very high levels of resistance to G. pallida pathotype Pa2/3.
Antroduodenal manometry. Usefulness and limitations as an outpatient study.
Short duration antroduodenal manometry is of limited diagnostic usefulness due to the difficulties in pyloric intubation in the presence of a dilated stomach and the intrinsic variability in normal motor patterns, perhaps excerbated by the stressful effects of the procedure itself in tube-naive subjects.
