Imaia, a new truffle genus to accommodate Terfezia gigantea
Morphological, electron microscopic, and phylogenetic studies of specimens collected in Japan and the Appalachian Mountains revealed that the hypogeous ascomycete Terfezia gigantea unambiguously falls into the Morchellaceae, and the new, monotypic genus Imaia is proposed to accommodate the species.
