Review of Hysterothylacium and Iheringascaris (both previously =Thynnascaris) (Nematoda: Anisakidae) from the northern Gulf of Mexico
Contracaecum multipapillatum (=C. robustum) from fishes and birds in the northern Gulf of Mexico.
The dye method provides an accurate assessment of cell and parasite number in the peritoneal cavity by the use of Evans blue as a dilution stain marker by providing a more direct measure of the infection itself than parameters based on number per unit volume. Expand
Prevalence of Larval Anisakis simplex in Pen-reared and Wild-caught Salmon (Salmonidae) from Puget Sound, Washington
The study showed that farmed salmon may increase the margin of safety for consumers of raw seafood in pen-reared fishes and wild-caught salmon. Expand
Commercial blast-freezing of third-stage Anisakis simplex larvae encapsulated in salmon and rockfish.
The commercial blast-freezing process effectively killed larval nematodes in whole or dressed fish and market-ready samples of previously blast-frozen silver salmon and chum salmon steaks yielded no live worms, thereby confirming the efficacy of this process. Expand

The diagnosis of the fourth reported case of intestinal anisakiasis in the United States was based on the morphologic characteristics of the worm in histologic sections of resected ileum and findings demonstrated that patient serum recognized the excretory-secretory products produced by the worm and showed their presence in vivo. Larval Hysterothylacium (=Thynnascaris) (Nematoda: Anisakidae) from Fishes and Invertebrates in the Gulf of Mexico
The larvae of four forms of Hysterothylacium are described and illustrated and the nomenclature initiated by Norris and Overstreet (1976) is provided and a listing of hosts is provided. Expand
