New records of shrimps from the Lower Cretaceous Romualdo Formation, Araripe Basin, northeastern Brazil, with new taxa of Penaeoidea (Crustacea: Decapoda: Dendrobranchiata)
Number of ghost crab burrows does not correspond to population size

The results show that the use of ghost crab Ocypode quadrata burrows to assess levels of anthropogenic impacts on sand beaches may not be accurate, as previously thought, because the number of burrows does not represent an estimate of the population size.
Comparative biology of the crab Goniopsis cruentata: geographic variation of body size, sexual maturity, and allometric growth

Findings provide further evidence that local environmental conditions play a role in phenotypic variation between populations inhabiting different latitudes and show that variation in size at maturity and body size can lead to divergent allometric patterns of sexual characteristics that can have a sex-specific response.
Population biology and sexual dimorphism in the freshwater prawn Atya scabra (Decapoda: Atyidae) in the De Contas River, Bahia, Brazil

A population structure, reproductive period, patterns of growth and distribution of size classes among sexes in a population of the prawn A. scabra in the De Contas River, Bahia, Brazil is determined.
Condition factor of Goniopsis cruentata (Crustacea, Brachyura, Grapsidae) from Mundaú/Manguaba estuarine complex, Alagoas, Brazil
The condition factor of female was higher than that of male crabs, probably due to the gonad weight of females, and varied seasonally for both sexes, being higher in the autumn and winter in males, and in the Autumn and spring in females.
Breeding period in the mangrove crab Goniopsis cruentata (Decapoda: Grapsidae) in Northeast Brazil.

It is concluded that, even though breeding is not related to monthly variation of environmental factors, it occurs in periods of higher salinity and temperatures and lower rainfall.
Gonad development in mature females of tidal spray crab Plagusia depressa (Brachyura: Plagusiidae)
Seasonal Variation of Total Mercury in Mussels (Mytella charruana, Orbigny, 1842) from a Tropical Lagoon, NE, Brazil
- Pedro Américo S. Higino, T. B. Jesus, C. E. V. D. Carvalho, L. M. S. Tonial, T. C. Calado
- Environmental Science
The aim of the present study was to investigate the total mercury (Hg) seasonal variation in soft tissue of a mussel (Mytella charruana) in distinct size classes from a tropical lagoon, verifying the…
Biological features on epibiosis of Amphibalanus improvisus (Cirripedia) on Macrobrachium acanthurus (Decapoda)
Reproductive aspects and adaptive relative growth of the tropical crab Goniopsis cruentata
There appears to be no pattern of sexual maturity between the sexes in this species, with both sexes maturing earlier or later, and the relative growth of the gonopod length and abdomen width and length is clearly related to different sex roles.
