Development of a stable isotope dilution analysis for the quantification of the Bacillus cereus toxin cereulide in foods.
- T. Bauer, T. Stark, T. Hofmann, M. Ehling-Schulz
- BiologyJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
- 10 February 2010
A stable isotope dilution analysis (SIDA) was developed for the quantification of cereulide in foods using the (13)C(6)-cereulide as the internal standard and demonstrated the robustness and accuracy of the developed SIDA.
First Insights Into Within Host Translocation of the Bacillus cereus Toxin Cereulide Using a Porcine Model
- T. Bauer, W. Sipos, M. Ehling-Schulz
- Biology, MedicineFrontiers in Microbiology
- 7 November 2018
It is demonstrated that cereulide is able to cross the blood–brain–barrier, which may partially explain the cerebral effects reported from human intoxication cases, and typical diagnostic specimens used in human medicine, such as blood samples and urine, are not suitable for diagnostics of food borne Cereulide intoxications.

Initial validation of the chatbot shows great potential for the further development and deployment of such a beneficial for the whole society tool.
Steatoda nobilis, a false widow on the rise: a synthesis of past and current distribution trends
- T. Bauer, S. Feldmeier, H. Krehenwinkel, C. Wieczorrek, N. Reiser, R. Breitling
- Environmental ScienceNeoBiota
- 2 November 2019
The Noble False Widow, Steatodanobilis (Thorell, 1875) (Araneae, Theridiidae), is, due to its relatively large size and potential medical importance, one of the most notable invasive spider species…
Sensitive detection of soy (Glycine max) by real-time polymerase chain reaction targeting the mitochondrial atpA gene.
- T. Bauer, Katja Kirschbaum, Silvia Panter, Marion Kenk, J. Bergemann
- BiologyJournal of AOAC International
- 1 November 2011
A reporter probe-based real-time PCR method amplifying the mitochondrial gene of the alpha chain of adenosine triphosphate synthetase from soy is presented, showing sensitivity of PCR-based soy detection can be increased by using mtDNA as the target.
Detection and Isolation of Emetic Bacillus cereus Toxin Cereulide by Reversed Phase Chromatography
- E. M. Kalbhenn, T. Bauer, T. Stark, Mandy Knüpfer, G. Grass, M. Ehling-Schulz
- BiologyToxins
- 1 February 2021
A method for cereulide toxin detection and isolation using equipment commonly available in microbiological and biochemical research laboratories is developed, representing a robust, economical, and easily accessible research tool that complements existing diagnostics for the detection and quantification of cereulides.
Phantom spiders 2: More notes on dubious spider species from Europe
- R. Breitling, T. Bauer, M. Schäfer, E. Morano, J. Barrientos, T. Blick
- Biology
- 30 September 2016
A surprisingly large number of European spider species have never been reliably rediscovered since their first description many decades ago. Most of these are probably synonymous with other species…
