We have investigated the photoluminescence (PL) of self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) in high magnetic fields of up to 50 T and as a function of temperature. Our data clearly indicate that two different mechanisms are at work. At low temperatures (T < 80 K), the zero-field PL is increasingly dominated by lower energy dots. High-field measurements… (More)
We demonstrate the impact of reducing agents for Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) of WS2 from WF6 and H2S precursors. Nanocrystalline WS2 layers with a two-dimensional structure can be obtained at low deposition temperatures (300-450 °C) without using a template or anneal.
Two-dimensional (2D) semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are of great interest for applications in nano-electronic devices. Their incorporation requires the deposition of nm-thin and continuous high-k dielectric layers on the 2D TMDs. Atomic layer deposition (ALD) of high-k dielectric layers is well established on Si surfaces: the… (More)
B-doped diamond has become the ultimate material for applications in the field of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), which require both highly wear resistant and electrically conductive diamond films and microstructures. Despite the extensive research of the tribological properties of undoped diamond, to date there is very limited knowledge of the wear… (More)
