The ICESat-2 mission will continue NASA's spaceflight laser altimeter measurements of ice sheets, sea ice and vegetation using a new measurement approach: micropulse, single photon ranging at 532 nm. Differential penetration of green laser energy into snow, ice and water could introduce errors in sea ice freeboard determination used for estimation of ice… (More)
In this paper we will discuss our eighteen-month progress of a three-year Instrument Incubator Program (IIP) funded by NASA Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO) on swath mapping laser altimetry system. This paper will discuss the system approach, enabling technologies and instrument concept for the swath mapping laser altimetry.
In this paper we will discuss our development progress on a non-scanning, swath mapping laser altimetry system. This paper will discuss the system approach, enabling technologies and instrument concept for the swath mapping laser altimetry.
We report on our continuous progress in developing a multi-beam non-scanning, swath mapping laser altimeter to support the LIdar Surface Topography (LIST) mission. The instrument includes a single laser transmitter, a multi-pixel photon counting detector array, a high bandwidth, sixteen-channel 8-bit digitizer and a high-throughput data system.
