Complete nucleotide sequence of double-stranded RNA viruses from Fusarium graminearum strain DK3
- Jisuk Yu, Sun-Jung Kwon, Kyung-Mi Lee, Moonil Son, Kook Hyung Kim
- BiologyArchives of Virology

Both the genome organization and phylogenetic analysis indicated that FgV3 was closely related to members of the families Totiviriridae and Chrysoviridae, but it was placed outside of their main clusters, whereas F gV4 formed a distinct clade with the family Partitiviridae.
Molecular characterization of a dsRNA mycovirus, Fusarium graminearum Virus-DK21, which is phylogenetically related to hypoviruses but has a genome organization and gene expression strategy…

This study suggests the existence of a new, as yet unassigned, genus of mycoviruses that exhibits a potex-like genome organization and sgRNA accumulation.

Gain-of-function analysis of the most significantly expressed soybean PP2C gene showed that ABA-induced GmPP2C3a functions as a key regulator of Rsv3-mediated ER, suggesting that the primary mechanism of ER against viruses is the inhibition of viral cell-to-cell movement by callose deposition in an ABA signaling-dependent manner.

The HEX1 Gene of Fusarium graminearum Is Required for Fungal Asexual Reproduction and Pathogenesis and for Efficient Viral RNA Accumulation of Fusarium graminearum Virus 1
- Moonil Son, Kyung-Mi Lee, Kook Hyung Kim
- BiologyJournal of Virology
- 17 July 2013
Data indicate that the HEX1 gene plays a direct role in the asexual reproduction and virulence of F. graminearum and facilitates viral RNA accumulation in the FgV1-infected host fungus.

The involvement of a nuclear phase in the replication cycle of Q-satRNA not only provides a valid explanation for its persistent survival in the absence of HV but also suggests a possible evolutionary relationship to viroids that replicate in the nucleus.
Molecular characterization of an unusual new plant RNA virus reveals an evolutionary link between two different virus families
- Sun-Jung Kwon, G. Choi, Boram Choi, Jang-Kyun Seo
- BiologyPLoS ONE

These unusual characteristics suggest that GBCV may represent an evolutionary link between the families Benyviridae and Virgaviridae and indicate the existence of a novel, unidentified virus group.
