Bio-directed synthesis of metal nanoparticles is gaining importance due to their biocompatibility, low toxicity and eco-friendly nature. We used culture supernatant of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain BS-161R for the simple and cost effective green synthesis of silver nanoparticles. The reduction of silver ions occurred when silver nitrate solution was treated(More)
In an ongoing survey of the bioactive potential of microorganisms from Ladakh, India, the culture medium of a bacterial strain of a new Pseudomonas sp., strain ICTB-745, isolated from an alkaline soil sample collected from Leh, Ladakh, India, was found to contain metabolites that exhibited broad-spectrum antimicrobial and biosurfactant activities.(More)
Eleven biosurfactant producing bacteria were isolated from different petroleum-contaminated soil and sludge samples. Among these 11 isolates, two were identified as promising, as they reduced the surface tension of culture medium to values below 27 mN m(-1) . Besides biosurfactant production property, they exhibited good flocculating activity.(More)
The biological synthesis of nanoparticles has gained considerable attention in view of their excellent biocompatibility and low toxicity. We isolated and purified rhamnolipids from Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain BS-161R and these purified rhamnolipids were used to synthesize silver nanoparticles. The purified rhamnolipids were further characterized and the(More)
Bio-directed synthesis of metal nanoparticles is gaining importance in view of their biocompatibility, low toxicity and eco-friendly characteristics. The present study describes the application of resveratrol conjugated gold nanoparticles as effective delivery vehicles. The green chemistry approach was used for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles by using(More)
Gold glyconanoparticles were synthesized by a simple, rapid, and eco-friendly method by using sweet Sorghum syrup for application in biomedicine and biotechnology. The nanostructures of the prepared gold nanoparticles were confirmed by using UV-visible absorbance, TEM, SAED, FTIR, EDAX, XRD, and photoluminescence analyses. The formation of gold(More)
Treatment of 2-naphthol with aldehydes and allyl tributyl stannane or anisole in the presence of AlCl3 at 0°C to room temperature afforded its 1-alkyl derivatives in high yields (76–83%) within 4–8 h. The products were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against four human cancer cell lines. The most potent compound (5d) showed IC50 of 1.2 ± 1.1, 1.6 ±(More)
