Strain M-M1(T) was isolated from marine sand obtained from Geoje Island, South Sea, Korea, and its taxonomic position was investigated using a polyphasic taxonomic approach, finding that it could be differentiated from phylogenetically related species of the genus Thalassomonas by differences in some phenotypic properties.

Strain GYSW-22T is proposed to represent a novel species of a new genus, Aliiroseovarius pelagivivens gen. nov, and Roseovarius crassostreae, Roseovarian halocynthiae and Rosevarius sediminilitoris should be reclassified into the new genus as AliiRoseovarian crassstreae comb.
