A case of portal venous thrombosis in a patient with chronic ulcerative colitis is presented. Computed tomography correctly diagnosed the abnormality as confirmed by angiography.
The angiographic appearances of histologically proven hepatic infarction without vascular occlusion has not, to our knowledge, been previously described. Anterior spina bifida or butterfly vertebral body has a well known and characteristic appearance on plain film and CT. Its appearance on magnetic resonance imaging also appears to be characteristic and should not be mistaken for more serious abnormalities.
