Comparison of Cochlear Morphology and Apoptosis in Mouse Models of Presbycusis
The data suggest that the C57 mouse could be an excellent animal model for early onset 'sensory' presbycusis in their young age until P6mo, and further studies to investigate the intrinsic or extrinsic etiologic factors that lead to the early degeneration of organ of Corti in C57 mice may provide a possible pathological mechanism of early onset hearing loss. Clinical efficacy of fat-graft myringoplasty for perforations of different sizes and locations
Fat-graft myringoplasty has a reliable tympanic closure rate for small to large perforations, but yields poor hearing improvement in the latter case, and on a per-group basis, the >30% perforation group had the poorest results and the difference was statistically significant. Expand
Tinnitus in patients with chronic otitis media before and after middle ear surgery
Following middle ear surgery, most patients experienced a reduction in tinnitus and restored hearing, with surgery perceived as an important contributory factor. Expand
Standardization for a Korean Adaptation of the International Outcome Inventory for Hearing Aids: Study of Validity and Reliability
The Korean version of the International Outcome Inventory for Hearing Aids (IOIHA) is a reliable and valid tool for evaluating subjective outcomes of hearing aids. Expand
Serum Heat Shock Protein 70 and its Correlation with Clinical Characteristics in Patients with Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss
This study performs a study to investigate the possibility of HSP70 being found in circulation and to observe its possible clinical role in patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). Expand
Insulin resistance and inflammation may have an additional role in the link between cystatin C and cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.
Cystatin C level was significantly associated with insulin resistance and biomarkers reflecting inflammation independent of renal function, and these components may have a role in addition to that of eGFR in explaining the link between cyStatin C and CVD in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Expand
Korean red ginseng prevents gentamicin‐induced hearing loss in rats
To evaluate the preventive effects of Korean red ginseng (KRG) on gentamicin (GM)‐induced ototoxicity and to identify the effective components of KRG.
Comparison of functional and morphologic characteristics of mice models of noise-induced hearing loss.
Both mice strains showed consistent, permanent noise-induced hearing loss with different susceptibilities and site vulnerabilities and further studies to investigate the mechanism of the different degree and cochlear site vulnerability to noise exposure between two mice strains are necessary. Expand
Prevalence and Significance of High-Frequency Hearing Loss in Subjectively Normal-Hearing Patients with Tinnitus
Even if patients with tinnitus do not have any subjective hearing impairment, most of them have HFHL and/or EHFHL, and the effects on the clinical features of the patients are still vague. Expand
Cognitive decline and increased hippocampal p-tau expression in mice with hearing loss
The results provide behavioral and histopathological evidence for hearing‐related cognitive decline and suggest early hearing loss is suggested to be one of the important determinants between normal and pathological cognitive aging. Expand
