The distribution of restriction fragments at the DNA minisatellite locus D16S309 was estimated by investigating blood samples from 2617 unrelated West German Caucasians and 1269 offspring. The amplifier effect of different intensifying screens on commercially available X-ray films was tested in autoradiography with 32P at -20 degrees C and -70 degrees C.
