Vitamin C-Induced Decomposition of Lipid Hydroperoxides to Endogenous Genotoxins
It is determined that vit C induces lipid hydroperoxide decomposition to the DNA-reactive bifunctional electrophiles 4-oxo-2-nonenal, 4,5-epoxy-2(E)-decenal), and 4-hydroxy- 2-nonnal, a precursor of etheno- 2′-deoxyadenosine, a highly mutagenic lesion found in human DNA.

The ability to measure DMBA-3,4-dione formation in A549 cells implicates the AKR pathway in the metabolic activation of PAH in human lung, and shows that four homogeneous human recombinant aldo-keto reductases (AKR1C1–AKR 1C4) are regioselective and oxidize only the relevant non-K regiontrans-dihydrodiols.
Mass spectrometric and computational analysis of cytokine‐induced alterations in the astrocyte secretome
This compilation of secreted proteins provides a framework for identifying factors that influence the biochemical environment of the nervous system, regulate development, construct extracellular matrices, and coordinate the nervousSystem response to inflammation.

At low levels of oxidative DNA damage, there was an excellent correlation between a comet assay that measured DNA single strand breaks (SSBs) after treatment with human 8-oxo-guanine glycosylase-1 (hOGG1) when compared with 8-xo-dGuo in the DNA as measured by the stable isotope dilution LC-MRM/MS method.
Cyclooxygenase-2-mediated DNA Damage*
A potential mechanism of tumorigenesis that involves DNA adduct formation from COX-2-mediated lipid peroxidation rather than prostaglandin formation is suggested.
