This paper describes a methodology and a case study through which system architecture and dynamic models of related system components are gathered in order to design and simulate the SCADA system of a new hydro turbine test laboratory. System architecture model is prepared in System Modeling Language, a system modeling language based on Unified Modeling(More)
In this study, the impact of laser energy deposition on pressure oscillations and relative sound pressure levels (SPL) in an open supersonic cavity flow is investigated. Laser energy with a magnitude of 100 mJ is deposited on the flow just above the cavity leading edge and up to 7 dB of reduction is obtained in the SPL values along the cavity back wall.(More)
The methods and outcome of an undergraduate senior design project related to the analysis of fluid flow and heat transfer in an electronic system with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and design of vortex promoters for cooling the system are summarized in this article. The study emphasizes the necessity to teach CFD to Mechanical Engineering students at(More)
Simulations of supersonic turbulent flow over an open rectangular cavity are performed to observe the effects of length to depth ratio (L/D) of the cavity on the flow structure. Two-dimensional compressible time-dependent Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with k-ω turbulence model are solved. A reduced order modeling approach, Proper Orthogonal(More)
