Adiponectin influences insulin sensitivity and lipid metabolism, but it is not clear whether these effects are correlated with fat mass or distribution. We studied the relationship between plasma adiponectin and leptin levels, insulin sensitivity, and serum lipids by a cross-sectional study (n = 242 subjects) and by an intervention study (95 of 242) to… (More)

BACKGROUND Lipid transfer protein (LTP) is a widely cross-reacting plant pan-allergen, and sensitized patients may react to many foods. Although peanut allergy is frequently reported by LTP-allergic patients, the evidence of the presence of an allergen homologous to LTP in peanuts is limited. OBJECTIVE To assess the prevalence of peanut allergy in… (More)
The process of stone formation (lithogenesis) has five stages. Effectiveness of distant lithotripsy is different at each of these stages. In children, at the preclinical stage of the disease treatment is effective in 100% of cases. Routine ultrasonic examinations of children 2-3 times a year allow the diagnosis of the calculi at early stages of lithogenesis.
