Phenotypic and genetic diversity of Erwinia carotovora ssp. carotovora strains from Asia
A collection of 87 strains of the soft rot pathogen Erwinia carotovora ssp. carotovora (Ecc) isolated from various host plants in Japan, Korea and Thailand was characterized by bacteriological,
Papaya Polygalacturonase and its Role in Thermally Injured Ripening Fruit
The polygalacturonase (E.C. (PGase) activity in papayas increased with fruit ripeness. PGase activity was highest in the placenta with the activity decreasing outwardly from the placenta to
Diversity of Fungal Endophytes from Pinus koraiensis Leaves in Korea
The composition of endophytic fungal species from Pinus koraiensis was studied in two areas (Yeongwol and Jincheon), Korea and Pestalotiopsis sp.
PCR‐based identification and characterization of Burkholderia cepacia complex bacteria from clinical and environmental sources
Aims:  To study the genotypic identification and characterization of the 119 Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) strains recovered from clinical and environmental sources in Japan and Thailand.
Characterization and differentiation of Erwinia carotovora strains from mulberry trees
It is confirmed that the present type 2 strains from mulberry can be discriminated clearly from other soft rot Erwinia species.
Microstructure of the prothoracic mycangia in the ambrosia beetle Platypus koryoensis (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Platypodinae)
The fine structural data suggest that both the female mycangia and the clusters of small cuticular depressions in both sexes also have aMycangial function in common regardless of their relative size and location.
Genetic Diversity of Ralstonia solanacearum Strains Isolated from Pepper and Tomato Plants in Korea
A total of 35 strains of Ralstonia solanacearum isolated from wilted pepper and tomato plants in Korea were analyzed for their genetic diversity by bacteriological, pathological and molecular biological approaches, showing a high degree of genetic diversity at 55% similarity level.
Characterization of Korean Erwinia carotovora Strains from Potato and Chinese Cabbage
Four Erwinia carotovora strains isolated from potatoes showing blackleg symptoms and rotted Chinese cabbage were analysed by biochemical tests and sequence analysis of 16S rDNA and 16S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer (IGS) regions, and the results indicated that Asian Eca strains were distinct from European Eca strain, although they were phenotycally homogeneous.
First Report of Brown Spot Needle Blight on Pinus thunbergii Caused by Lecanosticta acicola in Korea.
Morphological characteristics of the fungus were consistent with those of Lecanosticta acicola, and it was confirmed that the disease in Korea is a new threat to the health of black pine, especially in nursery plots.
