Floating-gate Flash memories have been able so far to satisfy the market requirements, especially for the portable equipments, and to be the mainstream non-volatile memory (NVM) technology [1].…
Photoionization of Ne Atoms and Ne+ Ions Near the K Edge: PrecisionSpectroscopy and Absolute Cross-sections
- A. Müller, D. Bernhardt, S. Schippers
- Physics
- 17 February 2017
Single, double, and triple photoionization of Ne+ ions by single photons have been investigated at the synchrotron radiation source PETRA III in Hamburg, Germany. Absolute cross-sections were…
Photoexcitation of a volume plasmon in C60 ions.
Time-dependent density functional calculations confirm the collective nature of this feature, which is characterized as a dipole-excited volume plasmon made possible by the special fullerene geometry.
Electron-Ion Recombination Measurements Motivated by AGN X-Ray Absorption Features: Fe XIV Forming Fe XIII
- E. Schmidt, S. Schippers, D. Savin
- Physics
- 14 March 2006
Recent spectroscopic models of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) have indicated that the recommended electron-ion recombination rate coefficients for iron ions with partially filled M shells are…
An unexpectedly low oscillator strength as the origin of the Fe xvii emission problem
- S. Bernitt, G. Brown, José R. Crespo López-Urrutia
- PhysicsNature
- 12 December 2012
The results of an experiment in which a target of iron ions was induced to fluoresce by subjecting it to femtosecond X-ray pulses from a free-electron laser are reported, finding a relative oscillator strength that is unexpectedly low, differing by 3.6σ from the best quantum mechanical calculations.
Absolute cross sections for photoionization of Xeq + ions (1 ⩽ q ⩽ 5) at the 3d ionization threshold
- S. Schippers, S. Ricz, A. Müller
- Physics
- 11 April 2014
The photon-ion merged-beams technique has been employed at the new Photon-Ion spectrometer at PETRA III for measuring multiple photoionization of Xeq + (q = 1–5) ions. Total ionization cross sections…

- C. Brandau, C. Kozhuharov, D. Winters
- Physics, Chemistry
- 23 September 2013
The utilization of the resonant atomic electron–ion collision process of dielectronic recombination (DR) as a tool to probe nuclear properties via isotope shifts and hyperfine effects is discussed.…
Photoionization studies of the B + valence shell: experiment and theory
- S. Schippers, A. Müller, R. Phaneuf
- Physics
- 28 August 2003
We have investigated L-shell photoionization (PI) of 1S ground-state and 3Po metastable states of the Be-like ion, B+, in the photon energy range 22.4–31.3 eV, at an experimental energy resolution of…
