The excitation spectrum of α-RuCl3 is proposed as a prime candidate for fractionalized Kitaev physics, and dynamical response measurements above interlayer energy scales are naturally accounted for in terms of deconfinement physics expected for QSLs.

- A. Banerjee, Jiaqiang Yan, S. Nagler
- PhysicsScience
- 9 June 2017
A comprehensive inelastic neutron scattering study of single crystals of the material α-RuCl3, which has been predicted to a host a Kitaev spin liquid, finds highly unusual signals, including a column of scattering over a large energy interval around the Brillouin zone center, which is consistent with scattering from the Majorana excitations of a KQSL.
Observation of speckle by diffraction with coherent X-rays

- H. Takagi, T. Takayama, G. Jackeli, G. Khaliullin, S. Nagler
- PhysicsNature Reviews Physics
- 1 April 2019
The Kitaev model is an exactly solvable S = 1/2 spin model on a 2D honeycomb lattice, in which the spins fractionalize into Majorana fermions and form a topological quantum spin liquid (QSL) in the…

- B. Lake, D. Tennant, C. Frost, S. Nagler
- PhysicsNature Materials
- 5 January 2005
By using inelastic neutron scattering, a complete data set of the magnetic correlations of KCuF3 are collected as a function of momentum, energy and temperature and the LL description is found to be valid over an extensive range of these parameters.

- M. Lumsden, A. Christianson, D. Mandrus
- PhysicsPhysical Review Letters
- 28 November 2008
Inelastic neutron scattering measurements on single crystals of superconducting BaFe1.84Co0.16As2 reveal a magnetic excitation located at wave vectors in tetragonal notation, indicating that the magnetic fluctuations are two dimensional in nature.
