Although these results need to be further validated in larger cohorts, they indicate that the daily routine evaluation of the PD-L1 expression in diagnostic biopsies can be misleading in defining the sensitivity to treatment with PD- L1 targeted therapy.

It is observed that miR-375 overexpression was associated with decreased cell proliferation and synergistically increased sensitivity to vandetanib, the clinically relevant treatment of metastatic MTC, and this approach identified SEC23A as a bona fide miR -375 target, which was validated by immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry of non-tumor and pathological thyroid tissue.
