MCP-1 contributes to macrophage infiltration into adipose tissue, insulin resistance, and hepatic steatosis in obesity.
It is suggested that an increase in MCP-1 expression in adipose tissue contributes to the macrophage infiltration into this tissue, insulin resistance, and hepatic steatosis associated with obesity in mice.
FSP27 contributes to efficient energy storage in murine white adipocytes by promoting the formation of unilocular lipid droplets.
The results suggest that FSP27 contributes to efficient energy storage in WAT by promoting the formation of unilocular lipid droplets, thereby restricting lipolysis and finding that the nature of lipid accumulation in Wat appears to be associated with maintenance of energy balance and insulin sensitivity.
Chemerin regulates β-cell function in mice
It is shown that chemerin-deficient mice are glucose intolerant irrespective of exhibiting reduced macrophage accumulation in adipose tissue, indicating thatChemerin regulates β-cell function and plays an important role in glucose homeostasis in a tissue-dependent manner.
KIT and RAS signalling pathways in testicular germ cell tumours: new data and a review of the literature.
Testicular germ cell tumours (TGCTs) are the leading cause of cancer deaths in young male Caucasians. Identifying changes in DNA copy number can pinpoint genes involved in tumour development. We
Vitamin D3 supports osteoclastogenesis via functional vitamin D response element of human RANKL gene promoter
Results provide direct evidence that 1α,25 dihydroxyvitamin D3 augments osteoclastogenesis by transactivating the human RANKL gene in osteoblastic cells through VDRE.
TCam-2 but not JKT-1 cells resemble seminoma in cell culture
The present study has analyzed two seminoma cell lines and compared the gene-expression profiles with those of normal tissue and of seminoma and embryonal carcinoma by using DNA Array technology, and confirmed the seminoma-like nature of TCam-2, whereas JKT-1 lacks expression for most of the genes detectable in GCTs, thus making doubtful the germ cell nature of this cell line.
Further characterization of the first seminoma cell line TCam‐2
TCam‐2 is the first well‐characterized seminoma‐derived cell line, with an exceptional mutation, rarely found in TGCTs, according to pathobiological and clinical studies.
