Ex vivo monitoring of human cytomegalovirus‐specific CD8+ T‐cell responses using QuantiFERON®‐CMV
TLDR
Evaluation of QuantiFERON®‐CMV in healthy individuals revealed that this technology was at least as sensitive and with some HCMV epitopes more sensitive than the ELISPOT for detecting ex vivo IFN‐γ, and may be a valuable diagnostic test for the detection of H CMV infection and a useful clinical tool for monitoring the immune response in immunosuppressed patients during therapy. Efficacy of a killed vaccine for the control of paratuberculosis in Australian sheep flocks.
TLDR
Data from this trial enabled the registration of Gudair in Australia in 2002 and underpins the pivotal role of vaccination in the current management of OJD. Expand
A long-term study in Angora goats experimentally infected with Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis: clinical disease, faecal culture and immunological studies.
TLDR
The in vivo and cultured cattle strains were much more pathogenic for goats than the sheep strains with persistent faecal shedding, seroconversion and clinical disease occurring in the majority of bovine Map challenged goats. Expand
Expression and characterisation of recombinant oligomeric envelope glycoproteins derived from primary isolates of HIV-1.
TLDR
These reagents have potential as immunogens for use in vaccine development, and the binding of gp140 to soluble and cell-surface CD4 and CXCR4 is related to the degree of oligomerisation. Expand
A long-term study in Merino sheep experimentally infected with Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis: clinical disease, faecal culture and immunological studies.
TLDR
The results indicated that for sheep the interferon-gamma test may be useful for determining if a flock has been exposed to ovine Johne's disease. Expand
Modelling coccidial infection in chickens: emphasis on vaccination by in-feed delivery of oocysts.
TLDR
A mathematical model of the life cycle of Eimeria tenella is developed and quantitative estimates of the required trickle immunization hitherto only available after extensive time-consuming trials are provided. Expand
A long-term bacteriological and immunological study in Holstein-Friesian cattle experimentally infected with Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis and necropsy culture results for
The aims were to longitudinally evaluate the interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) test in comparison to faecal culture and the absorbed ELISA in a cattle infection model for Johne's disease and to determineExpand
In situ hybridization and immunolabelling study of the early replication of simian immunodeficiency virus (SIVmacJ5) in vivo.
TLDR
Results indicate that, even following intravenous challenge, a major site of the initial replication of SIV is gut-associated lymphoid tissue, and vaccines that induce protection at this site may be superior, even against parenteral challenge. Expand
Evaluation of an autologous red cell agglutination test, VetRED FIV, for the presence of FIV antibody in cats.
TLDR
VetRED FIV is a useful addition to the available commercial tests for FIV infection and confirms the relatively high overall prevalence of FIV in Australian cats predominantly among mature male cats in the 9-12 year age group. Expand
Ex vivomonitoring of human cytomegalovirus-specific CD 8 1 T-cell responses using QuantiFERON s-CMV
We have developed a novel diagnostic technology to monitor the human cytomegalovirus (HCMV)-specific CD8 1 T-cell responses that is based on the detection of secreted interferon-gamma (IFN-g) in theExpand
