RhCD59-P corrects the CD59 deficiency in vitro and can bind to erythrocytes in an in vivo murine model, protecting the cells from the activity of human complement, and represents a potential therapeutic strategy in PNH.
Generation of a Recombinant, Membrane-targeted Form of the Complement Regulator CD59
This novel type of agent, termed sCD59-APT542, offers for the first time the prospect of efficient and specific inhibition of membrane attack complex activity in vivo.

Three new fluonmetnc assays were developed for the detection of pyroglutamyl ammopeptidase type-II (PAPII) activity. Two of these assays are based on hydrolysis of the TRH substrate analogue…

Two growth-based measurements as well as staining by a membrane-impermeable dye were examined for their ability to reflect changes in viability of a clumpy mnn9 (defective) strain, and cell clumps proved to be stable to mixing and variability of agar-plate-based viable counts of undisrupted suspensions was consistent with variability observed for cell banks of a non-clumpy MNN9 strain.
