To compile a host list, to ascertain taxonomic and ecological patterns within the list, and to determine host utilization in non-crop habitats, ecological characteristics of the species suggest that non economic plant species outside of crop systems may be important in its population ecology.

Induced resistance in soybean was investigated in the greenhouse using different concentrations of the chemical inducer ActigardTM to determine the influence on feeding preference of bean leaf beetle adults, and pair-wise comparisons of leaflets from ActigarTM-treated plants and control plant leaflets demonstrated that Actigards at 25 ppm concentration showed lower preference index (PI) when plants were treated at V1 stage.
