Habitat Utilization, Relative Abundance, and Seasonality of Sharks in the Estuarine and Nearshore Waters of South Carolina
- Glenn F. U Lrich, S. Carolina, Catherine Riley
- Environmental Science
- 2007
The results of this study indicate that the estuarine and nearshore waters of South Carolina represent an important primary nursery area for finetooth sharks Carcharhinus isodon, blacktip shark C. limbatus, sandbar sharks C. plumbeus, Atlantic sharpnose sharks Rhizoprionodon terraenovae, and scalloped hammerheads Sphyrna lewini.
Canebrakes: An Ecological and Historical Perspective
- S. Platt, C. Brantley, S. Carolina
- Environmental Science
- 1997
Cane (Arundinaria gigantea (Walter) Muhl.) is found throughout the southeastern United States and forms monotypic stands known as canebrakes. Canebrake ecology has been largely ignored by…

Habitat Partitioning Between the Xanthid Crabs Panopeus herbstii and Eurypanopeus depressus on Intertidal Oyster Reefs (Crassostrea virginica) in
- S. Carolina
- Environmental Science
- 1994
The abundances of the xanthid crabs Panopeus herbstii and Eurypanopeus depressus were examined relative to surface oyster shell cover, surface oyster cluster volume, subsurface shell content,…
IMAGING OF A TRANSITIONAL DISK GAP IN REFLECTED LIGHT: INDICATIONS OF PLANET FORMATION AROUND THE YOUNG SOLAR ANALOG LkCa 15
- C. Thalmann, C. Grady, Sendai
- Physics, Geology
- 27 May 2010
We present H- and Ks-band imaging data resolving the gap in the transitional disk around LkCa 15, revealing the surrounding nebulosity. We detect sharp elliptical contours delimiting the nebulosity…
GROUND-WATER RESOURCES
- S. Carolina
- Environmental Science
- 2004
The CAER developed a map of groundwater levels in Oakland County (fig. 6), derived from the elevations of rivers and lakes and the elevations of ground water in the glacial aquifer. Groundwater…
Population Surveys (ground and aerial) on Nesting Beaches
- B. Schroeder, East Highway, Sally R. Murphy, S. Carolina
- Environmental Science
- 1999
Nesting beach surveys are the most widely implemented monitoring tool in use by the global sea turtle community and are an important component of a comprehensive program to assess and monitor the…
STRUCTURE AND TECTONICS OF THE SINU-SAN JACINTO ACCRETIONARY PRISM IN NORTHERN COLOMBIA
- J. Kellogg, E. Toto, J. Cerón, S. Carolina
- Geology
- 2005
Multichannel seismic profiles, potential fields and surface and subsurface data from the North Colombia fold belt constrain a composite transect of the Sinu-San Jacinto accretionary prism. The…
Control strategies for the activated sludge process
- B. Cashion, T. M. Keinath, W. Schuk, S. Carolina
- Engineering
- 1980
Most dynamic control strategies that have been proposed for the activated sludge process can be grouped under the general category of dynamically controlling the food-to-microorgan ism (F:M) ratio…
Investigation of Growth Phases for Bottlenose Dolphins using a Bayesian Modeling Approach
- S. Carolina, Hubbs-SeaWorld
- Biology
- 2017
This study presents a Bayesian framework fitting parameters of a triple-logistic growth function to describe multiple phases of growth for bottlenose dolphins, simultaneously fitting and comparing all growth parameters between South Carolina, Mississippi Sound, and Indian River Lagoon cohorts.
