Nematodes, rotifers and tardigrades from nunataks in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica
- B. Sohlenius, S. Boström, A. Hirschfelder
- Environmental SciencePolar Biology
- 2004
Four species of nematodes, sixteen species of rotifers and seven species of tardigrades were found in samples from nunataks in Vestfjella and Heimefrontfjella in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica.…
Distribution patterns of microfauna (nematodes, rotifers and tardigrades) on nunataks in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica
- B. Sohlenius, S. Boström, A. Hirschfelder
- Environmental SciencePolar Biology
- 7 February 1996
The distribution pattern of the fauna on two of the nunataks was studied in greater detail and the results showed little difference in peak abundance and species composition between samplings carried out during two southern summer seasons.
Species diversity and random distribution of microfauna in extremely isolated habitable patches on Antarctic nunataks
- B. Sohlenius, S. Boström
- Environmental SciencePolar Biology
- 14 February 2008
Occurrence of similar seemingly habitable sites without microfauna and sites with various combinations of animal taxa indicates that stochastic colonization processes as well as local environmental factors and historical factors influence faunal composition in a specific habitable patch.
A revision of the genus Pseudacrobeles Steiner, 1938 (Nematoda Cephalobidae). Part 2. Subgenus Bunobus subgen. n., problematical species, discussion and key
- P. Ley, M. Siddiqi, S. Boström
- Biology
- 1993
Summary- Bunobus subgen. n. is proposed under the genus Pseudacrobeles for four species which were found ra lack cephalic and labial probolae, and which have subdorsal and subventrallips more…
Mite fauna in the home and sensitivity to house‐dust and storage mites
- A. Warner, S. Boström, C. Möller, N. Kjellman, A. Warner
- BiologyAllergy. European Journal of Allergy and Clinical…
- 1 July 1999
Mite‐density and IgE‐antibody levels against house‐dust mites were significantly associated and other species numbered around 100 mites/g dust in some homes, while other species occasionally were found in high numbers.
The geographic distribution of metazoan microfauna on East Antarctic nunataks
- B. Sohlenius, S. Boström
- Environmental SciencePolar Biology
- 28 January 2005
The results indicate rather limited rates of dispersal and colonization between nunataks, and the Sørensen’s Quotient of Similarity was generally low, especially between faunas on nunatak in different mountain ridges.
Characterization of the mite fauna (Acari) in Swedish barn dust
- S. Boström, E. Johansson, M. Hage-Hamsten
- Biology
- 1 June 1997
The mite fauna in barn dust from 30 farms on the Swedish island of Gotland was analysed and significant positive correlations were obtained between the acarid and the predatory cheyletid mites and between the glycyphagids and the chey letids.
