The sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.), is a major target of transgenic maize expressing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) proteins in South America and the mid-Southern region of the United States. During 2007-2009, a total of 986 feral individuals of D. saccharalis were collected from maize fields in six locations of Louisiana and Mississippi and… (More)

BACKGROUND
In the mid-southern region of the United States, sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.), is a major target pest of transgenic maize expressing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) proteins. Novel transgenic maize technologies containing two or more pyramided Bt genes for controlling lepidopteran pests have recently become commercially available.… (More)

The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is a target pest of transgenic maize and cotton expressing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) proteins in both North and South America. In 2013 and 2014, a total of 215 F2 two-parent families of S. frugiperda were established using single-pair mating of field individuals collected… (More)

To counter the threat of insect resistance, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) maize growers in the U.S. are required to plant structured non-Bt maize refuges. Concerns with refuge compliance led to the introduction of seed mixtures, also called RIB (refuge-in-the-bag), as an alternative approach for implementing refuge for Bt maize products in the U.S. Maize… (More)

This paper deals with questions of how many compact subsets of certain kinds it takes to cover the space ω of irrationals, or certain of its subspaces. In particular, given f ∈ (ω\{0}), we consider compact sets of the form Q i∈ω Bi, where |Bi| = f(i) for all, or for infinitely many, i. We also consider “n-splitting” compact sets, i.e., compact sets K such… (More)

We characterize spaces with σ-n-linked bases as specially embedded subspaces of separable spaces, and derive some corollaries, such as the c-productivity of the property of having a σ-linked base.

In the recent preprint [1] S. Parrott proves the equality between the Arveson‘s curvature and the Fredholm index of a ”pure” contraction with finite defect numbers. In the present note one derives a similar formula in the ”non-pure” case. The notions of d-contraction T = (T1, T2, . . . , Td) and its curvature was introduced by W. Arveson in a series of… (More)

In the paper one considers the local structure of the Fredholm joint spectrum of commuting n-tuples of operators. A connection between the spatial characteristics of operators and the algebraic invariant of the corresponding coherent sheaves is investigated. A notion of Weyl joint spectrum of commuting n-tuple is introduced.
