A joint AOAC/American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) collaborative study was conducted to determine by the Uppsala method the dietary fiber content and its composition in various foods. The method includes preparation of a residue by treatment with thermostable alpha-amylase and amyloglucosidase and then ethanol precipitation of solubilized dietary(More)
The interactions have been studied between an IgG-binding domain derivative based on domain B of staphylococcal protein A (designated Z) and human immunoglobulin G class 1 (IgG1) and its Fc fragment (Fc1) respectively. Five single amino acid substituted mutant forms of Z were constructed at the gene level, produced intracellularly in Escherichia coli,(More)
A real-time biospecific interaction analysis (BIA) was performed to study the specific interaction between the Fc portion of human immunoglobulin G1 (Fc1) and a one domain analogue (designated Z) of staphylococcal protein A, in monovalent (Z) and divalent (ZZ) forms, and five different single amino acid substituted Z variants (L17D, N28A, F30A, I31A, K35A).(More)
All 72 resections for colorectal liver secondaries during the period 1971-1984 were analysed retrospectively. Liver tumours were single in 35 (49 per cent), unilateral in 55 (76 per cent) and associated with extrahepatic disease in 12 (18 per cent) patients. Operative mortality was 5.6 per cent. With respect to the disease in the liver, the presence or(More)
OBJECTIVE To compare the efficacy and safety of early, nasogastric enteral nutrition (EN) with total parenteral nutrition (TPN) in patients with predicted severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). SUMMARY BACKGROUND DATA In SAP, the magnitude of the inflammatory response as well as increased intestinal permeability correlates with outcome. Enteral feeding has been(More)
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is an aggressive and highly lethal disease frequently characterized by a dense stromal or desmoplastic response. Accumulating evidence exists that tumor desmoplasia plays a central role in disease progression and that e.g. activated pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs) are responsible for the excess matrix production. The(More)
During the past two decades, Swedish government policy has decentralized post-secondary education throughout the country. We investigate the economic effects of this decentralization policy on the level of productivity and innovation and their spatial distribution in the national economy. We find important and significant effects of this investment policy(More)
The pattern of relapse and factors influencing the site of recurrent disease were studied in 68 patients subjected to liver resection of colorectal metastases. Fifty-three (78%) patients had recurrence. Liver, lungs, and peritoneal cavity were most frequently involved, and all patients with relapse had recurrence in one or more of these sites.(More)
BACKGROUND Acute pancreatitis is a common condition that is still associated with substantial morbidity and mortality rates. Management, outcome and recurrence rate in acute pancreatitis in a clinical setting using a conservative management approach are described. METHODS A total of 1376 consecutive cases representing 2211 hospitalizations due to acute(More)
