The phenolic compounds and flavonoids were determined from the extracts of Withania somnifera root (WSREt) and leaf (WSLEt). The WSREt has 28.26 mg/g total phenolic compounds and 17.32 mg/g flavonoids, whereas WSLEt has 5.4 mg/g total phenolic compounds and 5.1 mg/g flavonoids. The WSREt, WSLEt and glibenclamide were orally administered daily to diabetic… (More)
Withania somnifera is an important medicinal plant, which is used in traditional medicine to cure many diseases. Flavonoids were determined in the extracts of W. somnifera root (WSREt) and leaf (WSLEt). The amounts of total flavonoids found in WSREt and WSLEt were 530 and 520 mg/100 g dry weight (DW), respectively. Hypoglycaemic and hypolipidaemic effects… (More)
An efficient and reproducible Agrobacterium-mediated in planta transformation was developed in Jatropha curcas. The various factors affecting J. curcas in planta transformation were optimized, including decapitation, Agrobacterium strain, pin-pricking, vacuum infiltration duration and vacuum pressure. Simple vegetative in vivo cleft grafting method was… (More)
Withania somnifera is an important medicinal plant and used to cure many diseases. Direct regeneration method was standardized for the nodal explants of W. somnifera. In this method, the maximum of 42.4 ± 2.68 shoots produced per explant was achieved at 1.5 mg l−1 BAP with 0.3 mg l−1 IAA in the second subculture. Transformation was performed in the nodal… (More)
Ash, minerals and biochemical contents were determined in various parts of root, stem and leaf of Cissus quadrangularis. The maximum ash content was observed in the root. The maximum concentration of carbohydrate and protein in the root and phosphorus, iron, calcium and lipids in the stem were observed.
Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) seeds are used as a folk medicine to enhance bone formation or to prevent osteoporosis in Korea. Therefore, the methanolic extract of safflower seeds (MESS) containing high mineral content, such as calcium (Ca), potassium (K) and phosphorous (P), was evaluated for the role on osteoblast (Ob) markers of Sprague-Dawley… (More)
Among nine native bacterial strains isolated from banana fruit surface and rhizosphere and six bacterial strains introduced from the culture collection, three native strains viz., non-fluorescent Pseudomonas (NFP6), Pseudomonas fluorescens (Pf3a), and Bacillus subtilis (BS1); and two bacterial strains from culture collection viz., Azospirillum (AS1) and… (More)
Antibacterial activity of various parts (stem, leaf and fruits) of solvent extracts (Petroleum ether, alcohol and acetone) of Solanum xanthocarpum against Escherichia coil, Klebsiella of Solanum xanthocarpum showed high sensitivity to Escherichia coil & less sensitivity and resistance to Bacillus cereus. In control, no inhibitory zone was observed.
The present study was aimed to evaluate the protective effect of phloretin on glycoprotein components in serum and tissues of streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. Diabetes was induced in male Wistar rats by a single intraperitoneal injection of STZ (60 mg/kg b.w). Phloretin (25mg and 50mg/kg b.w) was administered orally to diabetic rats for 45 days. The… (More)
Cloud computing allows accessing resources across Internet transparently: requiring no expertise in, or control over the underlying infrastructure. There is an increasing interest in sharing media files with family and friends. However, UPnP or DLNA were not designed for media distribution beyond the boundaries of a local network and manage media files… (More)
