An ultrastructural study of the ovary cord organization and oogenesis in Erpobdella johanssoni (Annelida, Clitellata: Hirudinida).
The ovary cord structure and oogenesis in Erpobdella johanssoni is analyzed under light, fluorescent and transmission electron microscopy and the obtained results with other clitellate annelids are compared with other arhynchobdellid leeches. Expand
Erpobdellid leeches (Annelida, Clitellata, Hirudinida) from Tunisia: new records with the description of a new Trocheta species.

- Biology, Medicine
- 24 June 2013
A key for the determination of freshwater erpobdellid species from Tunisia is proposed and a comprehensive comparison of the three genera is presented. Expand
Annotations on marine and freshwater leeches (Annelida, Clitellata, Hirudinea) from North Africa
A total of 37 species belonging to 6 families and 19 genera are presently known, eight of which represent new records for North African countries, and Pontobdella muricata is reported for the first time from Morocco. Expand
Effects of oil-related environmental pollutants on gonads of the freshwater leech Limnatis nilotica (Annelida, Hirudinea)
Investigation of the association between exposure to a mixture of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene and reproductive toxicity in the freshwater leech Limnatis nilotica found that exposure to 1.4 and 2.8 mg L−1 BTEX had a significant effect on previtellogenic and viteLLogenic oocytes, but no effect on oogonia or early oocytes. Batracobdella algira Moquin-Tandon, 1846 (Hirudinida: Glossiphoniidae)--morphometric analysis and internal morphology.

- Biology, Medicine
- Wiadomosci parazytologiczne
The measurements and, for the first time, description and characteristics of the reproductive and digestive systems of B. algira are provided to contribute to a better understanding of the host-parasite relation. Expand
Sexual behavior, insemination and development of the freshwater leech Helobdella stagnalis (Annelida, Hirudinea, Glossiphoniidae)
The sexual behavior of Hellobdella stagnalis was described with a special attention given to parental care and three major stages have been distinguished: Eggs cleavage, germinal band generation, and juveniles hatching. Expand
Ultrastructural study of spermatogenesis and sperm in the African medicinal leech Hirudo troctina Johnson, 1816 (Annelida, Hirudinida).
The results were compared to those on other clitellate annelids that have been studied to date, especially to sperm formation in Hirudo medicinalis Linnaeus, 1785 and only minor differences were found in the length and the diameter of different organelles and the number of spermatids in germ-line clones.
