- BiologyNihon Ishinkin Gakkai zasshi = Japanese journal…
A phylogenetic study based on sequence analysis of the beta-tubulin, hydrophobin and calmodulin genes was performed in 19 strains of Aspergillus fumigatus and related species isolated from clinical specimens in Japan to help classify species within the section Fumigati.
Terbinafine Resistance of Trichophyton Clinical Isolates Caused by Specific Point Mutations in the Squalene Epoxidase Gene
Terbinafine-resistant phenotypes were observed in A. vanbreuseghemii transformants expressing mutant forms of Trichophyton rubrum SQLE proteins, suggesting increased exposure to antifungal drugs could favor the generation of resistant strains.
Pathogenicity and virulence of Candida dubliniensis: comparison with C. albicans.
Results clearly indicated that C. dubliniensis is less virulence than C. albicans, a newly described fungus that is frequently isolated from the oral cavities of HIV-positive patients.
Antifungal Susceptibilities, Varieties, and Electrophoretic Karyotypes of Clinical Isolates of Cryptococcus neoformans from Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela
- B. Calvo, A. Colombo, M. L. Moretti-Branchini
- Biology, MedicineJournal of Clinical Microbiology
- 1 June 2001
A high susceptibility to antifungal agents was observed among all the isolates and the electrophoretic karyotyping of 51 strains revealed good discrimination among Cryptococcus neoformansvar.
Fungal ITS1 Deep-Sequencing Strategies to Reconstruct the Composition of a 26-Species Community and Evaluation of the Gut Mycobiota of Healthy Japanese Individuals
A curated ITS database, ntF-ITS1, was constructed and the best possible processing strategies for the three sequencing platforms were proposed, of which, the PacBio platform allowed for the most accurate estimation of the fungal community.
Chronic pulmonary scedosporiosis simulating aspergillosis
This patient with chronic S. apiospermum infection of the lung simulating aspergilloma illustrates that pulmonary scedosporiosis is not confined to immunocompromised patients and that the clinical presentation may be indistinguishable from that of asperGilloma.
Trichosporon species infection in bone marrow transplanted patients.
Ploidy of serotype AD strains of Cryptococcus neoformans.
- R. Tanaka, K. Nishimura, M. Miyaji
- Medicine, BiologyNihon Ishinkin Gakkai zasshi = Japanese journal…
- 30 January 1999
Twenty-four serotype AD strains of Cryptococcus neoformans were tested for ploidy and mating type and most strains, regardless of mating type, were diploid.
Serotyping of Cryptococcus neoformans strains isolated from clinical specimens in Thailand and their susceptibility to various antifungal agents
- Natteewan Poonwan, Y. Mikami, K. Konyama
- Biology, MedicineEuropean Journal of Epidemiology
- 1 April 1997
Studies on random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis showed that this method is useful for the differentiation of C. neoformans var.
Genotyping of fluconazole-resistant Candida albicans isolated from Uighurian people in Xinjing (China) using ALTS/RFLP and micro-TGGE method.
- J. Mijiti, X. Pu, A. Erfan, T. Yaguchi, H. Chibana, R. Tanaka
- Biology, MedicineNihon Ishinkin Gakkai zasshi = Japanese journal…
A new combination method of C. albicans tandem repeating units (ALTS)/RFLP and micro-temperature gradient gel electrophoresis (micro-TGGE) was able to distinguish all seven strains and estimate whether the origins of resistant strains were identical.
