The Colletotrichum boninense species complex
Seven of the new species are only known from New Zealand, perhaps reflecting a sampling bias, and the new combination C. phyllanthi was made, and C. dracaenae Petch was epitypified and the name replaced with C. petchii.

Stem cankers on sunflower (Helianthus annuus) in Australia reveal a complex of pathogenic Diaporthe (Phomopsis) species
It is shown that there has been broad misapplication of the name D. helianthi to many isolates of Diaporthe (Phomopsis) found causing, or associated with, stem cankers on sunflower.

The nomenclatural conflict in this complex is resolved giving priority to the more commonly used established generic names Bipolaris and Curvularia, and species resolved in this study are transferred to one of these genera based on their phylogeny.

DNA sequence analysis of the nrDNA internal transcribed spacer region and partial translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF1), actin and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GPDH) genes resolved nine clades correlating to seven known, and two apparently undescribed species, suggesting that endophytic, non-pathogenic isolate occurring on a wide host range would be more correctly referred to as P. capitalensis.
