Optimization of protease and lipase production by Bacillus pumilus SG 2 isolated from an industrial effluent
- R. Sangeetha, A. Geetha, I. Arulpandi
- Chemistry
- 31 December 2007
This investigation was aimed at isolating a potent bacterial strain which can produce both protease and lipase. Effluents of meat processing industry, dairy industry, food processing industry and oil…
Antibacterial Activity of Fistulin: A Protease Inhibitor Purified from the Leaves of Cassia fistula
- I. Arulpandi, R. Sangeetha
- BiologyISRN Pharmaceutics
- 20 June 2012
The antibacterial efficacy of a PPI present in the leaves of Cassia fistula was found to be very active against S. pneumonia, and its efficacy was comparable to the standard drug, streptomycin sulphate.

Concomitant production of protease and lipase by Bacillus Licheniformis VSG1: Production, purification and characterization
- R. Sangeetha, A. Geetha, I. Arulpandi
- BiologyBrazilian Journal of Microbiology
- 1 March 2010
This study was aimed at producing protease and lipase simultaneously on a common medium by Bacillus licheniformis VSG1, which was isolated from a tannery effluent, and the response of the enzymes to inhibitors, additives and solvents was analysed.
In Vitro α-Amylase Inhibitory Activity of the Leaves of Thespesia populnea
- R. Sangeetha, N. Vedasree
- MedicineISRN Pharmacology
- 20 March 2012
This study shows that the leaves of T. populnea were effective in inhibiting α-amylase, thereby proving to be potential hyperglycemic agents.
Luteolin in the Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
- R. Sangeetha
- MedicineCurrent Research in Nutrition and Food Science…
- 12 June 2019
Luteolin mediates its anti-diabetic potential by maintaining blood glucose levels and improving the sensitivity of body cells to insulin and these mode of actions have been discussed here.
Pongamia pinnata seed cake: a promising and inexpensive substrate for production of protease and lipase from Bacillus pumilus SG2 on solid-state fermentation.
- R. Sangeetha, A. Geetha, I. Arulpandi
- Chemistry, MedicineIndian Journal of Biochemistry & Biophysics
- 1 December 2011
The study demonstrated that inexpensive and easily available Pongamia seed cake could be used for production of industrially important enzymes, such as protease and lipase.
Molecular characterization of a proteolysis-resistant lipase from Bacillus pumilus SG2
- R. Sangeetha, I. Arulpandi, A. Geetha
- Biology, ChemistryBrazilian Journal of Microbiology
- 29 August 2014
The experimental molecular weight of SG2 lipase was nearly double that of its theoretical molecular weight, thus suggesting the existence of the functional lipase as a covalent dimer, thus rendering the lipase resistant to protease.
Activity of Superoxide Dismutase and Catalase in Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) in Response to Carbendazim
- R. Sangeetha
- BiologyIndian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- 2010
The response of antioxidants, superoxide dismutase and catalase in fenugreek seeds and plants treated to different concentrations of carbendazim are studied.
