Results of the combined data set clearly show that subfamily Tillandsioideae is monophyletic, and the earliest divergence separates a lineage comprised of Glomeropitcairnia and Catopsis from the "core" tillandsioids.

Analysis of plastid rbcL DNA sequence data of the pantropical family Phyllanthaceae and related biovulate lineages of Euphorbiaceae sensu lato is presented and Antidesma, Bischofia, Hymenocardia, Martretia, and Uapaca, all of which have previously been placed in monogeneric families, are confirmed as members of PhyllAnthaceae.
