Hyperbilirubinaemia is a good predictor for paediatric complicated appendicitis amongst the paediatric population and on the Receiver operating curve (ROC), the best cutoff value for total and direct bilirubin was 21 and 5.5 mmol/L, respectively.

An immunohistochemical analysis was undertaken of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in exuberant tracheal granulation tissue obtained from children treated with prolonged tracheotomy or endotracheal intubation, finding enhanced VEGF expression may be involved in the development of exuberants tracheo-granulation tissue.
