Ground-nesting Calliopsis pugionis Cockerell emerged from nests that had been underwater for at least 3 mo, and the percentage of males among emerging bees increased with time, which contrasts with the expected pattern based on the mating biology of this species.
Biological notes on Ocypus olens, a predator of brown garden snail, with descriptions of the larva and pupa (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae).
In a recent article by Orth, Moore, Fisher, and Legner (975) laboratory studies of the snail eating habits of an adult specimen of Ocypus dens M/iller were reported, it was found that these studies demonstrated a potential or snail control for this beetle.
