Lobar intracerebral hemorrhage model in pigs: rapid edema development in perihematomal white matter.
The findings suggest that serum proteins, originating from the hematoma, accumulate in adjacent white matter and result in rapid and prolonged edema after ICH, ie, early perihematomal edema.
Nervous system effects of cardiac arrest in monkeys. Preservation of vision.
Food-deprived monkeys tolerate 14 minutes of circulatory arrest well and show minimal neurologic and pathologic changes, while administration of glucose just before arrest markedly augments the severity of brain injury and alters its distribution.

Following MCA occlusion, hyperglycemia increases the magnitude and topographic extent of marked tissue lactic acidosis, and infarct size following 0.5 h of clip release correlates more closely with tissue acidosis than with lactate concentrations, demonstrating a time-dependent dissociation between tissue lactate and hydrogen ion accumulations.
Distribution of corpus callosum and anterior commissure in cat and raccoon
The outstanding feature of the commissural pattern in the raccoon was the total absence of degenerating fibers in the lobular complex relating to the digits of the forepaw.

Interhemispheric communication through the corpus callosum: mnemonic carry-over between the hemispheres.
Investigations of contralateral transfer of training in callosum-intact and callOSum-sectioned animals begin to reveal a definite role for the corpus callosUM in the realm of "psychic" function.
Visual Function of the Forebrain Commissures in the Chimpanzee
Interocular transfer of learned pattern discrimination tasks in chimpanzees with sectioned optic chiasma is dependent on the forebrain commissures. This function is sustained by the splenium and the…
