An overview of bilastine metabolism during preclinical investigations
Preclinical testing of a new antihistamine in terms of its biotransformation in various animal species, including humans, and to evaluate its potential for possible drug-drug interactions involving the CYP system demonstrated the potential for bilastine to be a good choice for allergic patients receiving treatment for other concomitant diseases.
High dose topical calcipotriol consistently reduces serum parathyroid hormone levels
Investigation of the effects of topical calcipotriol in vivo using the recently developed ‘intact’ PTH assay as a more sensitive index of systemic calcium homeostasis found it to be effective for chronic plaque psoriasis.
The effects of topical calcipotriol on systemic calcium homeostasis in patients with chronic plaque psoriasis.
Calcipotriol exerts its effects on systemic calcium homeostasis by increasing intestinal absorption of calcium and probably phosphate, which results in suppression of parathyroid hormone and 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D3.
The view is put forward that these reactions are due to the liberation of streptococcal toxin by the action of the sulphonamides on latent foci of infection, and are not examples of drug fever.
Ectoparasites of the red squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) and the Eastern chipmunk (Tamias striatus) from Indiana.
Ectoparasite recoveries are detailed from 93 Red Squirrels and 81 Eastern Chipmunks from Indiana and new host records are Eucheyletia bishoppi, Xenoryctes latiporus, Haemogamasus ambulans, Androlaelaps casalis and Pygmephorus hastatus.
Structure activity relationships of selected benzodiazepines as anticonvulsants to local anesthetics.
It is concluded however that the magnitudes of differences in potencies of the compounds in antagonizing local anesthetic seizures in mice and rats were not so large as to prefer any single agent over diazepam.
