Cyclotella-taxa (Bacillariophyceae) in lakes of the Alpine region and their relationship to environmental variables
Surface sediment diatom assemblages for 86 Alpine lakes were analysed focusing on the dominant genus Cyclotella and corresponding environmental data to provide information about the environmental preferences of the various morphotypes observed.
Fragilaria and Staurosira (Bacillariophyceae) from sediment surfaces of 40 lakes in the Austrian Alps in relation to environmental variables, and their potential for palaeoclimatology
Correlations between the mean valve length and summer water temperatures increase the overall high potential of Fragilaria and Staurosira for palaeoclimatological reconstructions in mountain lakes.
THE STELLIGEROID TAXA OF THE GENUS CYCLOTELLA (KÜTZING) BRÉBISSON (BACILLARIOPHYCEAE) AND THEIR TRANSFER INTO THE NEW GENUS DISCOSTELLA GEN. NOV.
The valve morphology and ultrastructure of the the so-called “stelligeroid” taxa of the genus Cyclotella (Kützing) Brébisson (Bacillariophyceae) are discussed and the formal transfer of these taxa into a new genus, Discostella gen. nov., is proposed.
Centric diatoms of large rivers and tributaries in Hungary: morphology and biogeographic distribution
Abstract Centric diatoms of 107 different Hungarian running waters were investigated. Among them the largest was the River Danube, from which more than one hundred plankton samples were analysed by…
EUTROPHICATION OF MONDSEE (UPPER AUSTRIA) AS INDICATED BY THE DIATOM STRATIGRAPHY OF A SEDIMENT CORE
The population dynamics of dominant planktonic diatoms during the eutrophication of Mondsee, Austria, are described by analysis of a 36 cm in situ frozen sediment core from the profundal region using…
Morphology and Ultrastructure of Cyclotella woltereckii HUSTEDT (Bacillariophyceae)
Cyclotella mascarenica nov. spec., a new stelligeroid Cyclotella (bacillariophyceae) from a pond of the Réunion Island (France)
A new stelligeroid Cyclotella (Bacillariophyceae), Cyclotella mascarenica KLEE, HOUK et BIELSA nov. spec., from a pond on Reunion Island (France) is described here on the basis of LM and SEM studies.…
OBSERVATIONS ON TAXA OF MELOSIRA SENSU LATO AMONG THE SLIDES FROM THE GRUNOW DIATOM COLLECTION IN VIENNA (AUSTRIA). PART 1
Several Aulacoseira taxa are presented here showing more valve pattern variability therefore emending LM and SEM-pictures presented by other authors and bringing some old names back into general use.
New Centric Diatoms (Thalassiosirales) of Lake Malawi (Formerly Lake Nyassa; Malawi, East Africa)
