Impact of the definition utilized on the rate of contrast-induced nephropathy in percutaneous coronary intervention.
TLDR
In this unselected population undergoing PCI, CIN ranged in frequency from 3.3% to 10.5% depending on the definition used and was not associated with in-hospital mortality or substantial morbidity, such as dialysis, and the need for a standardized, clinically relevant definition is underscored.
Ambulatory discharge after transradial coronary intervention: Preliminary US single-center experience (Same-day TransRadial Intervention and Discharge Evaluation, the STRIDE Study).
TLDR
The safety and feasibility for a prospective evaluation of ambulatory TR-PCI in an American practice setting are demonstrated and a low incidence of complications did occur and none would have been impacted by same-day discharge.
Novel bioabsorbable salicylate‐based polymer as a drug‐eluting stent coating
TLDR
This study shows favorable vascular compatibility and efficacy for a novel bioabsorbable salicylate‐based polymer as a DES coating, and supports further research and development of this unique class of polymer materials for applications in cardiovascular devices.
Comparison of 4 and 6 French catheters for coronary angiography: real-world modeling.
TLDR
Patients catheterized with 4F have fewer complications compared with 6F diagnostic catheters even when ambulated earlier and are a good option for primary catheterization in patients not anticipated to undergo coronary intervention.
Drug-eluting stents: present and future.
TLDR
The current and future status of drug-eluting stents is reviewed and the next generation of DES currently undergoing preclinical studies includes new technology, new stent designs and materials, biological polymers, bioabsorbable stents coated with new drugs including stent based gene, as well as cell delivery.
Ethnic disparity in the clinical characteristics of patients with heart failure
TLDR
The characteristics of heart failure patients of different ethnic backgrounds in Israel are unknown and the clinical characteristics of Arab vs. Jewish patients with chronic HF are evaluated.
Clinical outcome of patients with chronic heart failure followed in a specialized heart failure center.
TLDR
Supervision by dedicated specialized nurses in a HF center increased compliance, improved functional capacity in HF patients, and reduced hospitalization rate.
Safety and efficacy of frequency domain optical coherence tomography in pigs.
TLDR
Frequency domain OCT is safe and efficacious in the porcine model and the addition of a viscous contrast to saline is superior for lumen clearance compared to saline alone.
Risk characteristics of Arab and Jewish women with coronary heart disease in Jerusalem.
TLDR
Compared to Jewish women, Palestinian Arab women in Jerusalem appear to have more diabetes and exhibit lifestyle factors that generally increase the risk for CHD.
Comparison of Multidetector 64-Slice Computed Tomographic Angiography to Coronary Angiography to Assess the Patency of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts
TLDR
Multidetector 64-slice CTA is a valuable tool for direct visualization of coronary bypass grafts and assessment of their patency and can be detected with high diagnostic accuracy.
